Executive Summary

Acquires DuPont Critical Care's Americaine line of benzocaine local anesthetic products for an undisclosed purchase price. All but two Americaine products -- an otic solution for external ear canal pain and an ointment for lubrication of catheters -- are sold over-the-counter. Annual sales of the product line are approximately $2 mil. "Plans call for capturing a significantly larger share of market by increasing distribution in food stores, drug stores and mass merchandisers through Pennwalt's OTC sales force," Pennwalt said.
