FDA budget supplemental for AIDS and orphan drugs
Executive Summary
Supplemental appropriation of $12 mil. for FDA, includes $1.5 mil. for expanded work with AIDS and $500,000 for development of orphan drugs and devices. Also $5.9 mil. of the new funds will go towards pay raises given government workers earlier in the year and $4.1 mil. for agency contributions to the new Federal Employees Retirement System. The new funding for FDA is part of a $9 bil. additional appropriation for federal agencies for the current fiscal year signed by President Reagan on July 11. The extra funding gives FDA an operating budget of $450 mil. for FY 87.
