Clinical trials in HIV (human immunodeficiency virus) seropositive asymptomatic patients will begin in Australia and Scandinavia in next several weeks and trials with AIDS-related complex patients will begin in the U.S. in the next two months. The studies will involve approximately 2,000 patients. Newport said it has also submitted a proposal to NIH for the study of Isoprinosine in combination with an antiviral drug in ARC patients.
