House immunization authorization bill
Executive Summary
Rep. Waxman's (D-Calif.) Health Subcommittee passes legislation (HR 5230) to authorize childhood vaccination programs in fiscal 1987 and establish a spending ceiling of $78 mil. -- $13 mil. more than the current ceiling and $22 mil. more than the House-passed 1987 HHS appropriations bill would allocate. The measure also directs the department to maintain a six-month stockpile of vaccines, to avoid a shortage in the event a vaccine manufacturer experiences difficulty obtaining liability insurance and stops production.
