FDA reducing the authorized ceiling of division employees from 38 to 25, effective by Oct. 1, 1986. The division currently has a staff of 44. FDA says reassignment of staff outside the Office of Drug Standards will be done on a voluntary basis. The cuts are related to the increase of staff in the Generic Drugs Div. due to the Waxman/Hatch law. Staff increases in that division have pushed the Office of Drug Standards over employment ceilings.
