Accutane blood donors
Executive Summary
FDA sent a memo to all establishments collecting blood, blood components and source plasma advising them to defer any donor taking Accutane for at least one month from receipt of the last dose of the drug. "If a donor who is receiving Accutane (isotretinoin) gives blood, and the donated blood is transfused into a patient who either is or soon becomes pregnant, there may be a risk to the developing fetus because of Accutane in the transfused blood," FDA warns.
